why do people lie?

This journal for the most part will seem like the whining complaints of an emo, but I do not care at this point. I wonder why people lie to comfort other and generally keep up appearances. I see these lies and it sickens me to know that people do not want to be honest and merely spread lies to make themselves or others feel better. I know that the truth may not be pretty, but sometimes it needs to be said and heard. This is the end of the rant, I hope you have a good night.
